What to expect from therapy?
My approach to therapy is collaborative. That means that I don’t show up to our sessions with all the answers, nor will I tell you how you should live your life. Instead, we will work together to co-create a shared understanding of what the struggles you are facing might mean about your unique psychology. From there, we will work together to change what can be realistically changed and adjust to what cannot be changed. And how will we do this? Through conversation.
We will engage in meaningful, challenging and honest conversations about your past, present, and future. This may involve exploration of your family of origin, the challenges you’ve overcome, your values, and even your dreams.
Therapy may also involve developing certain skills that you may feel you lack, like managing stress, expressing your emotions, being assertive, and challenging unhelpful thoughts and patterns of behaviour.
Put simply, meaningful psychotherapy isn’t something that is done to you, but something we do together.
Male-Centered Psychotherapy
Also known as ‘Men’s therapy’ or ‘men’s counselling’, this approach centers the unique experiences of men into the therapeutic framework. Put simply, we apply our understanding of male psychology, masculinity and the male experience into our approach to understanding and treating our clients.
Male-centered psychotherapy can focus on men’s issues or issues that affect everyone.
